A whole new life

After seeing a few photos on facebook of some old faces that I hadn't seen in a while, I dug up this blog. I had completely forgotten about it. My, how things have changed. I am remarried to a wonderful woman, Liz. Sage is just a few months from 15 and I now have an 8 year old stepson and a 3 year old stepdaughter. LIFE IS GOOD. If you are still around, let me know. :)

Ch-ch-ch-ch-Changes....

Gosh, it surely has been a long time since I updated this blog. There are so many people I miss... so many I have no idea how to get in touch with. Especially you, MEL! (There was no way to get to you from your comment and I have long since lost your info due to hard drive reformatting.)

If anyone wishes to get in touch, I'm going to post my junk e-mail address, just please put some reference to who you are in the subject so I can rescue your e-mail from being deleted. dresnboots at yahoo dot com .

These days, life (single life) is treating me pretty well. No complaints. Amazing how things that once felt so devastating become some of the best things to ever happen to you in your life. My divorce (technically, dissolution of civil union) was final on Dec 29th. :) I am now legally single. (And, by the way, the process was EXACTLY the same as divorce. Court and all.)

I just got back from a short getaway with a friend to the Dominican Republic. It was just what I needed. We left the DR the night before the earthquake in Haiti. I'd say we were lucky to get while we did, however, I kind of wished we had still been there because I'd have liked to be able to help in some other way than monetarily. It just doesn't feel the same when you can't get your hands dirty. (We actually almost rescheduled our trip home because I was sick Monday morning, but with help from a lot of Pepto, we were able to make our PM flight.)

You'll never believe that my sweet girl is now 11. It shocks me every day. She's still a sweetheart, but with a dose of 11 year old attitude mixed in now and then. Nothing unusual, though, she's still easier to parent than most. Gosh, I hope it stays that way!

I'm getting chubby again. Gained 20 pounds of the weight I had lost when the ex and I first split. But I'm so freakin' happy these days that it doesn't really even bother me.

Well, that's it for the moment. Hope things are going wonderful for you. PLEASE UPDATE ME!

Summer on the Road

My daughter and I will be hitting the road this summer. We are heading to New Orleans in the last week of June to spend the summer down south. (Heading home the first week of August.) I'm really excited. We are going to visit friends along the way. Yay!

I am getting better with blogging again, but am not doing it as often as I had planned. At least, I'm still around. I'm enjoying catching up on my reading of your blogs, too.

3 more days of work/school!!! Then about a week at home and off we go. Tell me if you think you might be along our way and would like to meet up. I can't promise anything, but we'll try!

Miss you all!

Am I really almost 40?

Well, my birthday is a week from today. What a different place I am than last year! On my 39th birthday, I was a married, (well, civil unioned, to be precise) 200+ pound mom with infertility issues, who had just stopped trying to have another baby a few months before.

I set a few goals for myself at that time, mainly the "Fit by 40" goal. I have not reached it, yet I am still farther along than I was last year. (200+ will not be in my vocabulary again.)

Now, I am a single, hot mama without a care in the world (well, except my amazing daughter) who (on most days) is ready to tackle the world head on. I want to squeeze the nectar out of life and not miss one single fucking happy moment. I want to do what people think I shouldn't, and have FUN in the process. I want to stop worrying about whether people think I'm a good person or not. I am a good person and *I* know it!!!

WOW! 40, here I come!!!!

Happy May - recommitting myself to ME

Well, it's May. I'm a big annoyed with myself for gaining 15 of the 25 pounds I lost back. Now there's only 3 weeks until my birthday and my "Fit by 40" challenge that I started the day after my 39th birthday has fizzled. I need to recommit to it!!!

I guess life begins right NOW!!!! So, I'm throwing the can of salt and vinegar chips in the trash. (That means opening it and dumping them all so I can;t change my mind.) Too trigger-y. I started my crunch routine again last night. 100 crunches and 10 leg lifts in the morning and then a repeat at night. Whew! Didn't realize what a few months off would do. UGH! They were tough. Especially the darn leg lifts. When I was doing them a few months ago, I noticed that even though the jiggle of my tummy did not change, the ability to tuck it in did. I just tucked it easily without much effort, but now, it's harder. So, off we go.

I am committing to a couple of days a week at the Y for some sort of class. I don't really know what to do on the machines, but I can follow along in a class and I even enjoy it.

Thanks for the warm welcome back and I hope to get to catching up on all of your blogs soon, too. Thanks for the support.

I'm trying to get back

So much going on in my life. So many changes. I miss so many of you and I want to let you know I am still here. Still around. Doing better. I am no longer in the relationship that lasted almost half of my life. But I'm okay. I'm actually good.

I've gained half of my weight back, but I have another 5 weeks left of my "Fit by 40" challenge. I am recommitting as of right now.

Thanks for everyone's support as I tried to expand my family. I guess it turned out the way it was supposed to, since my family life has changed so much. I am content with it all now.

:) With many smiles.

Need your info

My old laptop went down over a month ago and my address book and favorite places went with it.

If you have me in your e-mail address book, could you drop me a line so I can have your e-mail address.

Gosh, Mel, I didn't even know you had the babies. And that place was in my favorites and I didn't have it written down.

Redsoxfan, I responded to your invite with another e-mail address for you to invite, but I did not get an invite there. (I use a junk mail for blogging.)

Thanks everyone for your support. I wish things were back to normal. It's hard to do one day at a time.
